Complications that can occur after the operation:

1. Intense postoperative pain, in which case analgesics are administered.
2. Hematomas due to late coagulation, which are resolved over two or three postoperative weeks.
3. Localised numbness can appear in the cutaneous zones where the scalpel has been used, which is also resolved after a period of time that varies between one week and two months. This effect does not negatively influence the patient’s functions or the positive results obtained.

In order to operate on patients using this technique, it is necessary to perform a complete blood analysis, VHC, VHB, VIH, a urine analysis, an electrocardiogram and a preoperative medical exam.

Contraindications:

- Acute infectious diseases.
- Serious somatic diseases in the decompensation phase.
- Very serious cerebral lesions.
- Allergy to all the anaesthesia preparations.

After the operation and in order to obtain other results such as strengthening of the musculature and elimination of contractures in the joints (if there are any), it is recommendable to include physiotherapy, swimming and other rehabilitation methods. The intensity and type of exercise depends on the characteristics of each patient and the professional criteria of the physiotherapist who takes care of the patient.

The patients who are more likely to obtain the best results are the following:

- Patients whose degree of dysfunction in the structures of the locomotor apparatus is between the third and first degree.
- Patients whose alterations or dysfunctions of the central nervous system are not very serious.
- Patients who undergo treatment at the optimum age, meaning between 3 and 14 years of age.
- Patients with a serious degree of affection can obtain considerable positive results for their own health and for the family members who care for them.

Depending on the operated areas and according to the particular characteristics of the patient, results start to appear after the following time has elapsed:

Opening of legs: around 15/20 days.
